167. To Deserve The Help Is Also Karma Phala!!!!!!!!!!!

The responses for the blog “Is The Word Karma Making Us Less Compassionate???????” was very much of help to me to understand better. Some had views that whatever the karma phala of an individual maybe one has to help him, while others felt if a person was destined to undergo that suffering and if we help him out, the karma phala does not cease but comes back and he has to suffer as it has not been exhausted. Yes, there is sense in both the thinking but is it possible for us to decide about the period span of the Karma phala of certain person??????

Maybe by our help it may or may not end there!!!!!!! How could we conclude that by helping him his karma phala would end?????? And at the same time how much sure are we to say that it will come back to him if we helped him???????

To this there is an interesting story in puranas:

Once Lord Shiva and Devi Parvathi were having a stroll in the heaven. They happen to see a Brahmin circumambulating a Shiva Temple with immense bhakti. He was requesting Him to provide help by any means to conduct his daughter’s marriage which was near approaching.

Devi Parvathi felt pity and told Lord Shiva. “Dear, you know that he is your ardent devotee, he is very kind hearted and pious man. But still he is in poverty; he and his family barely get anything to eat. How could he tolerate all this? You have the capacity to make him the King of that region. I am surprised why you are not helping him?”

Lord Shiva replied, “My beloved Bhuloka is the place where every person has to pay his karmic debts. He is not living the way he wants since it is not destined for him to live so. That is his destiny. In his destiny he has to live a poor live and I cannot change his destiny.”

Devi Parvathi said, “I cannot take the explanation of Karma now he is your devotee and you have to help him, I request you to help him”

On the humble request of Devi Parvathi, Lord Shiva agreed. He placed a pot full of gold coins on the way where he was doing the circumambulation of the temple. Now all of a sudden the Brahmin thought, since so many years I have been circumambulating this temple and I have came to know where exactly the turning come so let me test by closing my eyes and going around the temple.

Saying so he closed his eyes and started to go around the temple. This way he walked past the pot of gold coins without even glancing it. Then Lord Shiva turned to Devi Parvathi and said, “Look dear each and every person will get what is in store for him in his karma. Not even a grain more or not even a grain less.”

From the story we understand that even if we are over enthusiastic to help others, it is equally necessary for the person who needs help to deserve through his karma. The only difference is that we are not like Lord Shiva to know if the person deserves or not. Lets help and be compassionate, would the person benefit from it or not should never be our concern.

Let ours be a helping hand why should we worry of the karma phala of receiving hand??????? What say????????
