151. Our Senses is the Means of Enjoyment as well as Sufferings…!

We enjoy the experience of this magnificent world by our senses and unfortunately suffer because of the same senses if our mind is listening more to it. The lure of the outer objects is such that the senses keel before them and exert terrific pressure on the mind to go after it again and again.

The mind which is always dancing to the tunes of the senses is obligated to think of the means to gain that experience again and again. Of course it tries its level best to achieve it in a dignified way but if it is unable to get it then it will try to think of getting it by hook or crook. This is the time when the intellect warns it with dire consequences, but the pressure of senses over the mind will defeat the cause of the intellect.

How does the intellect know if the mind is trying to get the desire experience in a wrong way??????? How would the intellect know if the mind is falling prey to the wantons of the senses????????

Over the past the intellect has the experience of judging what is good and what is bad since it is the faculty of discrimination. There is a saying that every deed has a limit and anything that crosses the limit has a disaster. This applies to every deed and our ancients have given examples of many instances to make us understand that we should be in our limits.

Listening to music is not a bad event but that is the way the deer is exposed to danger when it lifts its earlobes to listen but is unable to hear the hunters approach and is captured.

Male elephant is lured by the touch of the female gets excited and is caught in the Kehdda system of capture.

The moth sights the flame and is so attracted to it that it perishes by burning its body.

The taste of the worm pulls the fish to the bait.

The bee is attracted to the whiff of the nectar in a flower and its legs get stuck to the fluid as it sits on it.

The snowballing effect of all these is due to the unending wantons of the senses which has put mankind in a situation in which it is unable to escape from world and is ever bonded. There is still a way out. It requires only a thought, to think that for the boat water is necessary to make it float but it is wisdom not to let water into the boat and make it sink. Just as the boat needs water to float our life need all that is around us to lead a happy life but it should be a necessity not more than that....what say????
